top of page 3. Does BUTTING manufacture seamless or welded pipes? BUTTING manufactures only longitudinally welded pipes. Production of these high-quality pipes of stainless steel and clad materials is the focus of our business activities. Very few companies in Europe can draw on such a length and breadth of experience in the production of stainless steel pipes as BUTTING does.
top of page 4. What sizes of pipes does BUTTING manufacture? On several production lines, BUTTING produces, in a continuous process, longitudinally welded pipes in diameters ranging from 18 to 762 mm in outside diameter, with wall thicknesses up to 16 mm. The normal length manufactured is 6 or 12 m. Shorter fixed lengths or lengths up to a maximum of 18 m can be manufactured in a number of sizes without circumferential weld.
Pipes with wall thicknesses up to 70 mm and a maximum outside diameter of 3,000 mm, in 6-m or 12 m lengths, may be produced in our modern manufacturing facilities without outsourcing individual process steps. For lengths up to 6 m, the maximum ratio of wall thickness to outside diameter is around 1.2 : 10.
